Shoppers - Why are you making it hard for me to collect my points? | Gripevine
I made a purchase at Shoppers Drug mart on Jan 27, the clerk did not ask me for my optimum card and I also forgot about it (as there are so many of these points cards in my wallet these days :-)). A few days later I was making another purchase at another Shoppers location (same city) and I noticed that I had not received my points on my last Shoppers receipt. I asked the clerk if I could still colle ct these points and she said yes, but you will have to go back to the store of the original purchase. This seemed silly to me given that the points can be collected at all stores in the same manner and Shoppers is a chain. Driving back to the other store was a complete inconvenience for me and I am not sure why it could not have been rectified from any store.

I would just like to have my points for this purchase added to my optimum account. :-)
Hi,
I am in no-way affiliated with Shoppers Drug Mart, though my fiancee is a pharmacy student and has worked there for over 7 years.
The problem may be because all of the Shoppers Drug Marts are independantly owned.
It may also be a limit within their computer system - there's a specific purchase code on your receipt that that particular location's system might not recognize, or might match codes with a purchase from within their store that has a different Optimum point value (and therefore wouldn't be fair or accurate).
You can get the points added to your Optimum account with receipt at the location you purchased them at. Might be a pain, and might not be worth it, but they are telling you that you can get them.
Cheers!
Most stores have a policy that if you purchase something at one store, you can return it at another. I had this experience with an out of province Best Buy,
I seem to recall that Shoppers used to also have a 1800 number to call with Optimum points... maybe that might work? I get it though. With electronic transactions, everything should be simple.
Lol Let it go - There are bigger things to worry about.
I am happy to report that Shoppers reached out to me and offered to credit me my points via head office. That was the resolution I was looking for in the beginning.
Kanadakid, I know this seems like a small matter, but it was the principle of it for me. I say If you are going to offer your customers a loyalty program, don't make it difficult for them to collect towards or use these programs.
There are too many silly policies, like this one, out there with many companies that drive customers crazy and waste all of our time and energy (including the manpower of the shoppers service rep who had to correspond with me on this 4-5 times to get this small matter resolved, when it should have been possible at the store several weeks ago, and would have taken 10 seconds).
It is about finding the win-win for everyone in the most sensible and reasonable manner possible.
