Big company, tiny ears.

In late winter of 2011, I contacted Comcast about internet service. A Ms. Macdonald called back. I told her I only wanted internet and no TV, She told me "you may as well get TV as it is included in your condo bill and it can be installed at the same time as the internet". This arrangement exists in some condos but as it turns out, not mine. Some time goes by and I get a quarterly condominium bill and it has TV costs added on, not included, so I am paying for something I don’t want and did not agree to. They didn’t talk to me but have told the condo manager that once installed I can’t opt out, oblivious to the fact that it would not have been installed if it were not misrepresented. Now I did owe money for the internet service until I cancelled it in June 2011, but it was always less than the TV service. I offset the two amounts and told them to refund.

I called customer service 3 times and was put on hold for a long time and then hung up on. I wrote letters and e-mails.

I contacted the Attorney General and was transferred to the department of Agriculture, who tried to arrange mediation. Comcast refused mediation.

I am in the process of taking them to court but it is time consuming and expensive. And the court will order mediation efforts anyway. Presumably, Comcast will be represented by a responsible person who will see immediately that this is a ‘loser’ for them, and settle forthwith.

They cannot expect to continue to profit on their misrepresentation.

See my complaint of 04/30/2012. Is Comcast's lousy customer service just in Florida or is it nationwide? Perhaps because of the plethora of older, retired persons living only several months at a time in Florida, Comcast then thinks that most of the complainers will fly rather than fight.

Obviously, it's all about money. Therefore, we should find an attorney for a class action suit against Comcast.

I have sent my complaint to the local papers here in S.W. Florida, but it hasn't been printed yet. Another SNAFU is that the neighbor who was ripped off for $7 a month and had his cable modem taken by Comcast isn't willing to fight for such a small amount of money.
